Community engagement exercise for reassembly of Queen's Pier commences

The community engagement exercise for the reassembly of Queen's Pier (QP) commenced today (March 18) to collect public views on the proposal to reassemble QP between Central Piers No. 9 and 10.

From now to May 17, the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) will conduct community engagement activities for the reassembly project. The CEDD has set up a website detailing the proposals, and is putting up display boards at suitable venues and conducting surveys. Details of the community engagement activity are set out at www.queenspier.hk .

QP was dismantled in 2007 to make way for the Central reclamation works. In recognition of the wishes of the public for its preservation, the retainable parts of QP were salvaged and stored at Kau Shat Wan Government Explosives Depot on Lantau Island for future reassembly. The CEDD engaged consultants in June 2014 for the review, design and construction supervision of the proposed reassembly works.

Ends/Friday, March 18, 2016
