Eight Old and Valuable Trees added to Register

Eight Old and Valuable Trees (OVTs) have been added to the OVT Register. Together with the 12 new entries announced last month, a total of 20 OVTs have been added into the Register in the past 12 months, the Tree Management Office of the Development Bureau announced today (August 6).

To take good care of Hong Kong's valuable tree resources, the Government introduced the Register of OVTs in 2004. Trees in the Register are included due to their large size, rarity, old age, outstanding form and/or cultural, historical or memorable significance. The data in the Register is updated on a regular basis.

For details and pictures of these OVTs, please refer to the Annex and the website of the LCSD's OVT Register (ovt.lcsd.gov.hk/ovt/index.jsp?lang=en).
