Exhibition on slope safety and maintenance to be held on Sunday

Members of the public are encouraged to visit the Slope Safety and Maintenance Exhibition, organised by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD), to be held at North Atrium, G/F, Olympian City 2, Kowloon, this Sunday (May 8).

Using display panels, project models, video shows and an information kiosk, the CEDD will inform the public about landslip warnings, precautionary measures and means of proper slope maintenance to convey the importance of slope safety. Additionally there will be a game booth to help people better understand slope safety and maintenance methods. The exhibition will run from 11am to 9pm.

To assist with the exhibition, Mr Chuang Min-ta, a famous sand painting artist from Taiwan, has been invited to perform live sand painting to demonstrate the importance of slope safety and reducing the risk of natural disasters.  As this Sunday is also Mothers' Day, Mr Chuang will perform another sand painting dedicated to all mothers. He will do both sand painting demonstrations twice, starting at 2.30pm and 5.30pm, to which members of the public are welcome.

A geotechnical engineer from CEDD will be available to meet the public at the exhibition venue from 3pm to 5pm to answer questions on slope safety and maintenance.

Information about slope safety and maintenance is available from the 1823 Call Centre and the Hong Kong Slope Safety website at hkss.cedd.gov.hk.
