In response to media enquiries today (December 27) about the water quality of Shing Mun Reservoir following the emergency landing of a Government Flying Services helicopter there, the Water Supplies Department (WSD) made the following statement:
"The location of the emergency landing of the Government Flying Services helicopter in Shing Mun Reservoir today is far away from the water intake point.
The results of the water sample tests so far indicated no contamination of water there. WSD will continue to closely monitor the water quality of the reservoir and will step up water samplings.
The water in the Shing Mun Reservoir must be treated in water treatment works and the quality of water must comply with the standard of World Health Organisation before being supplied to the public."
