EMSD to hold Open Day

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) will open its headquarters in Kowloon Bay to the public on August 22 (Sunday). The Open Day will be a day of fun for members of the public to learn more about electrical and mechanical safety and energy efficiency.

The EMSD held its first Open Day last year which met with an enthusiastic public response. Following last year's success, the department will hold the event again this year so that the public can make use of the summer holiday to find out more about the department's work.

The EMSD moved into its current headquarters in Kowloon Bay in 2005. Converted from the former Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminal 2 building, the EMSD headquarters building is an example of green building design, as manifested in its adaptive reuse, environmentally friendly design, construction and facilities.  By visiting the EMSD headquarters, members of the public can better understand the department's work in regulating and promoting electrical and mechanical safety and energy efficiency in Hong Kong.

The Open Day will be held at EMSD headquarters at 3 Kai Shing Street, Kowloon Bay, from 10am to 5pm. Members of the public are welcome to join as family units (about four persons) or groups (about 20 persons). For details and reservation, please visit www.emsd.gov.hk or call 2333 3762.
