Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works to open to public tomorrow

Members of the public are invited to an open day at the Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works (SCISTW) to be held tomorrow (March 21).

Managed by the Drainage Services Department (DSD) and serving 3.5 million people, SCISTW is the largest sewage treatment works in Hong Kong with one of the biggest underground sewage pumping stations in South-east Asia.

To coincide with the DSD's 20th anniversary this year, the open day will also serve to strengthen the department's relationship with the community through a comprehensive review of its works and services.  Through exhibition panels, 3D-models, video shows, a visit to an information centre and a technical tour, the public will gain an understanding of drainage and sewerage development and infrastructure in Hong Kong over the past 20 years.

Free shuttle bus services will be provided at MTR Cheung Sha Wan Station (Exit A1) from 9.15am to 4.30pm.

For more information, please visit the DSD's homepage at www.dsd.gov.hk or call the open day hotline at 2195 3488 during office hours.
