The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) is investigating a lift incident that happened on November 9 at Wan Lam House, Wan Tau Tong Estate in Tai Po.
"Upon receipt of a report from the management company of Wan Tau Tong Estate on November 10 about a rope breakage at Lift No.4 of Wan Lam House, EMSD officers immediately conducted an on-site investigation," an EMSD spokesman said today (November 11).
Preliminary findings revealed that one of the four suspension ropes was broken. The safety protection system functioned and stopped the lift. No casualty was reported. The concerned lift has ceased operation immediately.
