Public seminar on revitalisation of the original site of Central School on Hollywood Road

A public seminar will be held on Saturday (April 26) to gauge public views on how best to revitalise the original site of the Central School (the former Police Married Quarters) on Hollywood Road.

The site is the original site of the Central School which was renamed as Queen's College in 1894. The Government announced in October 2007 that the site would be removed from the List of Sites for Sale by Application for a year.

A three-month public engagement exercise has been conducted by the Development Bureau since February 22 to seek the views of the public on the revitalisation of the site.  As a part of the public engagement exercise, two open days of the site were held on March 28 and 29 during which visitors were able to see some of the valuable historic remains of the former Central School.

This public seminar is also one of the main activities in the public engagement exercise in which the views of the public will be sought on the revitalisation of the site.

The public seminar will be held from 2.30pm to 5pm on Saturday at the Exhibition Hall, Sheung Wan Civic Centre, 6/F, Sheung Wan Municipal Services Building, 345 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong.

Admission is free.  Prior registration is required on a first-come-first-served basis. Walk-in registration will be accepted if there are available spaces after the prior registration. Details of the public seminar and the enrolment form are available on the Heritage Conservation website (www.heritage.gov.hk/en/whatsnew/events_05.htm). For enquiries, please call the Projects Co-ordination and Heritage Conservation Section, Development Bureau, on 2848 6220 or 2848 6234.
