Geotechnical Engineering Office Open Days to celebrate 30th anniversary of Slope Safety System

The Geotechnical Engineering Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) will hold open days from tomorrow (September 27) to Saturday (September 29) to enhance public understanding of the Government's efforts in improving slope safety over the last 30 years.

The open days also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Hong Kong Slope Safety System and the establishment of the Geotechnical Engineering Office.

The open days, which run from 10am to 6pm daily, will be held at the ground floor of CEDD Building at 101 Princess Margaret Road, Ho Man Tin.  

Through colourful display panels, fascinating models, video show and an information kiosk, the event will convey to visitors the importance of slope maintenance and the precautionary measures to be taken during heavy rain.  Information on slope safety and landslip warning will also be on display.

There will be also be a career corner with information for Civil Engineering and Earth Science graduates (degree and diploma/certificate programmes). Three interesting games with slope safety themes will be in place for people to participate in and win prizes.

A geotechnical engineer from the Community Advisory Unit of Geotechnical Engineering Office will meet the public from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday (September 29) to answer questions related to slope safety and slope maintenance.
