The Director of Drainage Services, Mr Wong Chee-keung, said today (February 8) he was saddened to hear that a worker who collapsed in a manhole in Tai Po on February 3, had died.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, Mr Wong sent his deepest condolence to the worker's family.
The worker, 37, was hired by a contractor for the drainage maintenance and construction works in Tai Po.
He collapsed while clearing a sewer in Dai Fu Street, Tai Po, five days ago and was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital immediately for treatment. He passed away this morning.
The cause of the fatal accident is being investigated.
