The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) will stage a six-day exhibition on slope safety and Greening Master Plans starting this Sunday (December 11) at the Podium of Chan Tai Ho Building (FJ Wing) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The exhibition will open from 10am to 6pm daily. The part on slope safety aims at enhancing public knowledge of the history of landslides, the slope safety system, the importance of slope maintenance and landslip warnings in Hong Kong.
The exhibition will also feature various aspects of slope safety and slope maintenance through colourful illustrations, photographs and short videos. Information on landslip warnings and danger as well as precautionary measures will be on display. For further slope safety information, people are welcome to visit the Hong Kong Slope Safety Website http://hkss.cedd.gov.hk.
Similar exhibitions on slope safety staged at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Hong Kong Baptist University were well received.
As for the part on Greening Master Plans, plans and photographs on the development and implementation will be displayed.
The exhibition will give an overview of the completed Greening Master Plans for Tsim Sha Tsui and Central. "Jade Necklace" and "Heart of Gold" have been adopted as the respective greening theme for these two areas. Photographs of the newly completed Pilot Greening Scheme at six locations in Tsim Sha Tsui will also be displayed to illustrate the improvement of the streetscape.
Meanwhile, greening measures in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central to be carried out early next year will be presented. The exhibition will also introduce the department's plan to develop Greening Master Plans for the remaining selected areas in Kowloon West and on Hong Kong Island.
