Slope safety exhibition opens at Baptist University

The Geotechnical Engineering Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department will stage a seven-day exhibition on slope safety and maintenance at the Academic Concourse, Hong Kong Baptist University, Kowloon Tong on Monday (October 10).

The exhibition aims to enhance public knowledge of the history of landslides, the slope safety system, and the importance of slope maintenance and landslip warnings in Hong Kong.

Open from 10am to 6pm, the exhibition will feature various aspects of slope maintenance and slope safety through the display of colourful illustrations and photographs. Information on landslip warning messages, warning signs, evidence of landslip danger and precautionary measures will be on display.

Two short videos "Landslide History of Hong Kong" and "Safe and Green Slopes" will be continuously shown at the exhibition.

In addition, a TV announcement in the public interest on landslip warnings will also be shown to remind the public of the measures to be taken when the landslip warning is on.

Leaflets on slope safety, slope maintenance and Layman's Guide to Slope Maintenance will be available for collection.

Similar exhibitions staged at the Hong Kong University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology earlier were well received.

Enquiries on slope safety and slope maintenance can be made at the Citizen's Easy Link 1823. Members of the public are also welcome to browse through the Hong Kong Slope Safety Website http://hkss.cedd.gov.hk for slope safety information.
