DDS expresses condolences over colleague's death

The Director of Drainage Services, Mr Raymond Cheung Tat-kwing, said today (February 4) that he was very sad to hear the death of a Work Supervisor I, Mr Lui Kin-chuen, whose body was found in Tai Po Sewage Treatment Works earlier today.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, Mr Cheung sent his deepest condolences to the colleague's family. The department has also contacted Mr Lui's family to offer assistance.

Mr Lui joined the Drainage Services Department in 1989 and has been working in the Tai Po Sewage Treatment Works since July, 1999. He was reported missing after completing an assigned job in the plant around 2am today. 

Following an extensive search, his body was found at the bottom of a primary sedimentation tank around noon, and he was later certified dead.  The cause of this fatal incident is being investigated.
