Public consultation on further development of Tseung Kwan O

The Territory Development Department has begun a series of consultations to canvass the public's views on further development of Tseung Kwan O (TKO) new town.

"Public views, particularly those of the local residents, are of paramount importance to our study which was commenced in July last year. The objective of the feasibility study is to formulate a comprehensive plan to further develop TKO, with a vision of turning it into a convenient and vibrant new town with distinctive urban design and quality living environment, " a department spokesman said.

"After taking account of the public views collected in the stage 1 public consultation last year, various development themes for TKO Town Centre South and Pak Shing Kok have now been formulated.

"The proposed themes will be presented to the public through a series of public consultations and public views will certainly be valuable for our further study on a preferred development theme," he added.

The consultation with the Legislative Council Panel on Planning, Lands and Works, was held today (May 2). The Sai Kung District Council will be consulted on May 7.

A public forum will be held at 8 pm on May 9 at Leung Sing Tak Primary School, Hang Hau, TKO (next to the Hang Hau MTR Station), followed by a series of consultation withs Town Planning Board, green groups, professional institutes and Tseung Kwan O Area Committees.
