Appointment of the new PCICB Chairman

The Government announced today (September 17) the appointment of Mr Keith Kerr, Managing Director of Swire Properties Ltd., as Chairman of the Provisional Construction Industry Co-ordination Board (PCICB) for a period of two years.

Mr Kerr served as a member of the former Construction Industry Review Committee (CIRC) assigned with the task of reviewing the current state of the construction industry. He is also a member of the PCICB formed subsequently in September 2001 as a precursor of the statutory industry co-ordinating body to spearhead implementation of the recommendations made by the CIRC.

The PCICB is an important focal point pooling together efforts in rolling out a vast change programme and in nurturing a new industry culture. Furthermore, it provides a pan-industry forum to deliberate on strategic matters, to discuss policy issues impacting on local construction, and to convey the industry's prevailing needs and aspirations to Government.

The PCICB currently has 21 members drawn from a wide spectrum of stakeholders in the construction industry including clients, professionals, academics, consultants, contractors, workers, independent persons and government officials.
