Independent consultant appointed to analyse public views on West Kowloon project

The Public Policy Research Institute of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University has been appointed to provide consultancy services on analysing public views collected during the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) public consultation exercise, the Government announced today (February 7).

"With the research expertise and experience of its consultancy team members, the Institute will conduct independent analyses of public views received during the consultation," a government spokesman said.

"Public opinion is of paramount importance for the WKCD project. By engaging an independent academic research institute, we believe the credibility of the analysis and public confidence in the consultation exercise will be enhanced," the spokesman said.

The consultant will analyse all views received during the public consultation exercise, including views received from comment cards, discussion forums, meetings with statutory and advisory bodies including the Legislative Council and District Councils, and all written submissions.

It is also required to conduct three telephone polls during the public consultation period and analyse the results to gauge and triangulate public views collected from different channels.
