West Kowloon Cultural District exhibition to move to Heritage Museum

The exhibition of screened-in proposals for the development of West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) will move to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Sha Tin in mid-April.

The exhibition, which has been on display at Hong Kong City Hall since February 5, will close at 8pm tomorrow (March 28).

"It will resume at the Thematic Galleries 1 & 2, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin on April 16 and run until June 30," a Government spokesman said. The Government announced earlier this month that the public consultation exercise for the WKCD project would be extended to the end of June this year.

Adhering to the normal opening hours of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the exhibition will be open from 10am to 6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays to Saturdays; and from 10am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays. It will be closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).  Admission to the WKCD exhibition venue is free.

The museum is easily accessible by bus and by rail. It is a 5-minute walk from the Che Kung Temple KCR Station. There is also a free shuttle bus service between the Sha Tin KCR station and the museum on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10am to close of the opening hours. The buses run at 10-minute intervals. The public can call 2180 8188 or visit the Heritage Museum website:  www.heritagemuseum.gov.hk or the WKCD website: www.hplb.gov.hk/wkcd for more information.

Representatives of the screened-in proponents will explain their proposals to visitors at the exhibition.

"Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition and give their views. Public views are important for the development of the project and the Government will give due consideration to these views in making a decision on the next step," the spokesman said.

"There will also be a second lucky draw for those who submit their comment cards after March 28, 2005. As in the first round, 100 winners will be awarded a 'Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) Museum Pass', enabling them to visit museums managed by the LCSD free of charge for one year," he added.

Results of the first lucky draw will be published on April 10, 2005 in South China Morning Post, Sing Tao Daily and on the WKCD website. Winners will also be notified in writing.

To date, more than 138,100 visits to the WKCD exhibition have been recorded since it opened on December 16, 2004 at the Hong Kong Science Museum, and as at March 24, 2005, more than 21,900 comment cards and 270 written submissions were received.
