Following is a statement by the Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands, Mr Michael Suen, on the Hunghom Peninsula today (December 10):
"I believe that members of the public will be delighted to learn that the developers of Hunghom Peninsula have announced their decision not to proceed with the demolition of the buildings.
I welcome the developers' plan to upgrade and sell the existing flats as it addresses the concerns of the community. It is also in line with the original intent of the agreement reached between the Government and the developer in the lease modification completed earlier in the year (2004)."
