LDC Chairman and Managing Board members re-appointed

The Chief Executive has re-appointed Dr Lau Wah-sum as Chairman of the Land Development Corporation (LDC) from January 1, 2001 to April 30, 2001, or until the date on which the LDC is dissolved, whichever is earlier.


The Chief Executive has also re-appointed the following non-official members and official members to the LDC Managing Board for the same term :-

Mr Michael Lai Kam-cheung;

The Hon Ambrose Lau Hon-chuen;

Mrs Angelina Lee Wong Pui-ling;

Mr David Chris Lee Tsung-hei;

Mr Peter Dicky Yip.

"The current term of appointment of the Chairman and eleven Board Members of the LDC will expire at the end of the year and has been extended pending the establishment of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA)," the Acting Secretary for Planning and Lands, Mr Patrick Lau Lai-chiu said today (December 21).


"The Government has made a commitment during the passage of the Urban Renewal Authority Bill in June this year that it will review the ex-gratia allowances for property owners and tenants affected by land resumption, and present proposals to the Finance Committee (FC) of the Legislative Council for endorsement before setting up the URA.


"The Government intends to make a submission to the FC in the first quarter of next year and to set up the URA thereafter," Mr Lau said.
