SDEV speaks to the media

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, at a media session after attending a radio programme today (November 19):

Reporter: Mr Chan, why has the Government decided to report the case to the Police? Why did you do so after two days?

Secretary for Development: Firstly, we had to calm down and take stock of the matter. Secondly, in the past two days, actually every day, my schedule was very full. We have to attend to many meetings and businesses of the Development Bureau. In fact there was really nothing special happened in the past two days giving rise to the incident of reporting to the Police.

Reporter: Why do you think there is a need to report the case to the Police?

Secretary for Development: We do think that it is necessary to report it to the Police because the action of the Honourable Leung (Kwok-hung) and the Honourable Eddie Chu is not acceptable.
