Appointments to Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings announced

The Government announced today (May 14) the re-appointment of the incumbent Chairman (Mr Bernard Chan) and three incumbent non-official members (Mr Raymond Fung Wing-kee, Dr Lau Chi-pang and Ms Vivian Lau Sio-kuan), and the appointment of six new non-official members (Mr Wallace Chang Ping-hung, Dr Ho Hok-keung, Ms Theresa Ng Choi-yuk, Mr Joseph Luc Ngai, Ms Salome See Sau-mei and Ms Yvonne Shing Mo-han) to the Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings (ACRHB). The appointments will take effect from May 15, 2014 for a term of two years.

On the appointments, the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, said, "The ACRHB is the Government's important advisor in revitalisation of historic buildings. Over the years, it has made valuable contributions to the revitalisation of historic buildings in Hong Kong. As Batch IV of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme has been launched, the re-appointment of Mr Chan and three non-official members will provide continuity and retain experience for the work of the ACRHB.

"The new term of the ACRHB comprises members from different fields and professions. I am confident that this new composition would bring in fresh ideas to the work of the ACRHB. I also look forward to working with the ACRHB on issues relating to the revitalisation of historic buildings in Hong Kong."

Mr Chan also expressed gratitude to the six outgoing non-official members for their remarkable service on the ACRHB.

Established on May 15, 2008, the ACRHB comprises members from diverse fields including historical research, architecture, surveying, social enterprise and finance. Apart from assisting in the assessment and selection of proposals under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme, it provides advice on the subsequent monitoring of the implementation and operation of the revitalisation projects. It may also be consulted on revitalisation projects concerning other historic buildings as assigned by the Secretary for Development.
