Appointment to Construction Industry Council announced

The Government today (January 29) announced the appointment of Mr Lee Shing-see as the Chairman of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) for a two-year term from February 1, 2010, to January 31, 2012.  

Thirteen incumbent CIC members were re-appointed for a three-year term and 11 new members were appointed for a two-year term with effect from February 1, 2010. The appointments were made by the Secretary for Development.

The 11 new members are Mr Chew Tai-chong, Mr Mike Wong Chik-wing, Mr James Kwan Yuk-choi, Mr Yu Kam-hung, Mr Peter Lam Oi-ki, Mr Ho Wai-wah, Professor Joseph Lee Hun-wei, Mr Chow Luen-kiu, Mr Mak Tak-ching, Mr Cheung Hau-wai and Mr Chan Siu-hung.

Established in February 2007, CIC is a statutory body whose mission is to forge consensus on long-term strategic issues concerning the construction industry, convey the needs and aspirations of the industry to the Government, and provide a channel for the Government to solicit advice on all construction-related matters.  Since its establishment, the Council has embarked on a range of initiatives to elevate the quality of construction and to uphold the professionalism of the construction industry in Hong Kong.

The appointments were published in the Government Gazette today.
