Secretary for Development to attend China Charity Conference

The Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, will lead a Hong Kong delegation to attend the China Charity Conference to be held in Beijing on December 5 (Friday).

Organised by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the Central People's Government, the event aims to recognise the outstanding contributions of the enterprises and individuals from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao in charity works.

Members of the Hong Kong delegation include the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law, as well as representatives from Social Welfare Department, Home Affairs Department, Fire Services Department, Department of Health, Government Flying Service and the Hospital Authority who have participated in the relief and reconstruction work of the Sichuan earthquake. Also joining the delegation at the invitation of the Ministry of Civil Affairs are representatives from the Hong Kong Jockey Club and some non-Government organisations.

Mrs Lam will return to Hong Kong on December 6.
