Opening remarks by SDEV on land sale programme for October to December 2017

Following is the transcript of the opening remarks by the Secretary for Development, Mr Michael Wong, at a media session today (September 29) on the land sale programme for October to December 2017:

I am pleased to announce the quarterly land sale programme for the third quarter of the 2017-2018 financial year.

In the first two quarters of this financial year, private housing land supply has a capacity of producing around 18,260 flats, meeting this year's supply target of 18,000 flats. The Government will continue to put up sites for sale in the remainder of the current financial year to ensure a steady, sustained land supply.

In the third quarter, the Government plans to sell four sites in total, including three residential sites in Kwun Tong, Sheung Shui and Kowloon Tong, which together will be capable of producing about 1,090 flats. Also, the Government plans to sell an industrial site in Tsuen Wan, which is capable of providing about 18,700 square metres of gross floor area.

Apart from government land sale, in the coming quarter, the MTR Corporation Limited plans to tender Package 2 of the Wong Chuk Hang Station property development project, which is estimated to provide about 600 flats, while the Urban Renewal Authority plans to tender a development project in Mong Kok, which is capable of providing about 190 flats.

Looking ahead, the Development Bureau will continue to do its utmost through a multi-pronged approach to increase land supply in the short, medium and long terms to cater for the community's housing, social and economic development needs.

Thank you very much.
