Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, at a media session after attending a radio programme today (October 3):
Reporter: (about the volatility of the property market)
Secretary for Development: As I said before, our plan to supply land to the market on a stable and sustainable basis will not be affected by short-term volatility in the market. You have rightly pointed out that there is certain volatility in the external environment. Hong Kong has a very open economy, in terms of external influences, there is not much that you can do. But from the Government's standpoint, I think we are duty-bound to point out the various factors affecting the property market to our people. So that when people make their decisions to buy properties, they would think twice, and take into full consideration various factors affecting the market.
