In response to media enquiries on the public housing development at Wang Chau, Yuen Long, a Government spokesman gave the following reply today (August 14):
The Hong Kong Housing Authority plans to develop a public housing project at Wang Chau, Yuen Long. At present, the project will provide a total of about 4 000 flats. The application for change of land use was approved by the Town Planning Board in mid-2015, after consultation with the Yuen Long District Council in mid-2014.
The Government has also conducted a freezing survey in October 2015 for the affected households. The Government will assist the affected households in accordance with the prevailing compensation and rehousing policy, and will continue dialogues with them.
