Heritage Fiesta 2016 to be launched in October

Heritage Fiesta 2016 will be held in October and November, during which 25 historic buildings with food and beverage service will be open to the public during specific opening hours to showcase the rich heritage of Hong Kong.

"Many historic buildings with food and beverage service in Hong Kong are well-preserved. The event is a great opportunity for the public to understand and appreciate their histories and architectural styles," a spokesman for the Commissioner for Heritage's Office of the Development Bureau said today (September 25).

Admission to all participating historic buildings will be free of charge. Some of them will offer free guided tours, free snacks or discounts on food and drinks on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors can also collect special stamps at the participating historic buildings during their journeys of heritage exploration.

A pamphlet on Heritage Fiesta 2016 will be available at the featured historic buildings during the event period. It can also be obtained from the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin, the Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery cum Heritage Trail Visitors Centre in Yuen Long, the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum in Mid-Levels, the Museum of Coastal Defence in Shau Kei Wan, temples under the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and visitor centres of the Hong Kong Tourism Board in Tsim Sha Tsui and at the Peak, as well as at the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok.
