SDEV to visit Beijing

The Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, will lead a delegation to Beijing tomorrow evening (February 29) to pay courtesy calls on the Mainland government ministries which have policy areas that relate to work of the Development Bureau. The delegation will also exchange views with its Mainland counterparts on the "Belt and Road" initiative, expansion of the market for professional services and conservation of built heritage.

On March 1, the delegation will call on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce. On the following day, they will visit the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

The delegation will include the Permanent Secretary for Development (Planning and Lands), Mr Michael Wong; the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Hon Chi-keung; the Under Secretary for Development, Mr Eric Ma; and representatives from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Hong Kong Institute of Planners and the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects.

Mr Chan will accompany the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, to call on officials from relevant central ministries on March 3. He will return to Hong Kong on the same evening. Mr Ma will act as Secretary for Development on that date.
