Government announces addition of two sites to quarterly land sale programme for July to September 2015

The Government announced today (July 24) the addition of two sites to the quarterly land sale programme for the second quarter of 2015-16, i.e. July to September 2015.

The two sites are: one residential site in Tai Wo Ping and one business site in Yuen Long, which have the capacity to provide about 980 flats and 46,000 square metres of gross floor area respectively. Together with the three residential sites and one business site announced last month, the Government will put up for sale in the second quarter of 2015-16 a total of four residential sites (capable of providing about 2,600 flats) and two business sites (capable of providing about 62,000 square metres of gross floor area).

When announcing the quarterly land sale programme for the second quarter of 2015-16 on June 29, the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, said that, subject to the progress of rezoning and other work as well as market conditions, the Government might put up additional sites for sale within the second quarter of 2015-16.

The flat production capacity of the private housing land supply from government land sale, railway property development projects and urban renewal projects in the second quarter of 2015-16 (i.e. four residential sites put up for sale by the Government, the West Rail property development project at Yuen Long Station, the MTR Corporation Limited's Package 8 of LOHAS Park and the Urban Renewal Authority's Sai Wan Ho Street project in Shau Kei Wan) is correspondingly increased by 980 flats to about 6,100 flats. Together with the sites put up for sale in the first quarter, the private housing land supply in the first half of 2015-16, without taking into account private development or redevelopment projects, is estimated to have a total capacity to provide around 10,600 flats, i.e. about 56 per cent of the 2015-16 private housing land supply target of providing land that has a total capacity to provide 19,000 flats.

The list of the sites to be tendered in July to September 2015 is attached. The Lands Department will announce separately the detailed land sale arrangements before individual sites are tendered.
