The Government announced today (June 12) that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Daniel Lam Chun as Managing Director of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) for an interim period of 10 months with effect from June 15, 2015, pending the appointment of a new Managing Director through open recruitment.
Mr Lam is a surveyor by profession. He was first appointed as a non-executive director of the URA Board on December 1, 2008 and was one of the longest serving non-executive directors of the Board before his current appointment.

"We need to appoint a Managing Director of the URA for the interim period to ensure the continued smooth operation of the URA before a new Managing Director identified through open recruitment comes on board. Mr Lam has been one of the longest serving non-executive directors on the URA Board. He has made valuable contributions to the Board and is well versed with the work of the URA.
"I am grateful to Mr Lam for his agreement to lead the organisation during this transitional period," Mr Chan said.
Mr Lam has resigned as non-executive director of the URA Board before taking up the current appointment.
The Managing Director of the URA is the administrative head of the URA and the Deputy Chairman of the URA Board.
