SDEV concludes visit to Paris (with photos)

The Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, concluded his visit to Paris yesterday (October 31, Paris time). He visited the city after attending the World Sustainable Building 2014 Conference in Barcelona.

During his stay in Paris, Mr Chan met with the Deputy Mayor of Paris, Mr Patrick Klugman. He also visited Syndicat Interdépartemental pour l'Assainissement, the wastewater authority for the greater Paris area; and the Fédération Nationale des Travaux Publics (the National Federation of Public Works), and exchanged views with the representatives on the utilisation of underground space and infrastructural development.

Mr Chan also met with representatives from the Ville10D project, which aims to promote the use of underground space for sustainable urban development. He took the opportunity to visit La Défense, a major business district just west of the City of Paris, and was briefed on the use of underground space development to provide business area and public open space.

He also called on the Chinese Ambassador to France, Mr Zhai Jun.

Accompanying Mr Chan on the visit were the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Wai Chi-sing, and the Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr Hon Chi-keung.
