Carnival to promote electrical and mechanical safety and energy efficiency

Organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) and 13 industry players, the E&M Safety Carnival 2012 will be held at Kwai Chung Sports Ground on November 17 and 18. All are welcome. A highlight of the E&M Safety Campaign 2012, the carnival will offer the public a range of fabulous activities including exhibitions, games booths, live pop music performances and plays, a children’s corner and on-stage games. Many gifts are up for grabs too.

Since its debut in 2001, the E&M Safety Campaign has become one of the largest public education activities in Hong Kong. Its objective is to enhance public awareness of safety and good practice in the use of electrical appliances and installations, gas appliances, lifts and escalators, amusement rides and railway transport as well as energy efficiency. The E&M Safety Campaign 2012 includes a host of events covering schools, the general public and participating organisations. For details, please visit the EMSD website at

The EMSD is responsible for the enforcement of relevant laws and regulations in relation to electrical, mechanical, gas and railway safety and energy efficiency in Hong Kong. It also advocates electrical and mechanical safety, energy efficiency and the broader use of renewable energy. The EMSD will continue to perform its efforts in public education through various channels and community visits. It will also carry on reaching out to the wider community with view to fostering best practices in electrical and mechanical safety and energy conservation.
