Performance rating of registered lift contractors updated

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (December 3) announced the Contractors' Performance Rating (CPR) in the past 12 months (December 2009 to November 2010) on the EMSD website (www.emsd.gov.hk/emsd/eng/pps/le_pub_mpr.shtml).

During the period from December 2009 to November 2010, among the 38 contractors listed in the CPR results, three scored the full mark of 10 while 35 others scored between 9.12 and 9.97 with performance monitoring (PM) points deducted. The performance rating will be updated quarterly and PM points deducted are valid for 12 months.

Apart from the CPR results, EMSD has also updated the summary of warning letters issued to the registered lift contractors and the lift incident summary record for public reference. In the last quarter from September to November 2010, EMSD issued five warning letters to five contractors, namely Schindler, Otis, Amanti, Thyssenkrupp and Chun Ming Elevator. The record of warning letters can be browsed at the EMSD website (www.emsd.gov.hk/emsd/e_download/pps/le/warning_letter_list.pdf). In addition, there were four equipment failure lift incidents reported in the last quarter.

"The CPR result is considered as a useful reference for lift owners or their building management agents to select suitable lift maintenance contractors. With the experience gained after a year of operation, EMSD is reviewing the CPR scheme with a view to making further enhancements," a spokesman for EMSD said.
