The Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, met with the Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan, on her second day of visit in Singapore today (March 6).
At the meeting, Mrs Lam expressed appreciation to Minister Mah for the very detailed briefing and useful site visits arranged for her by the Ministry of National Development and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Mrs Lam took the opportunity to brief Minister Mah on the progress made in taking forward the 10 major infrastructure in Hong Kong and Hong Kong's enhanced cooperation with the Pearl River Delta.
Mrs Lam received a briefing by the URA on Singapore's heritage conservation programme and adaptive reuse of historic buildings. She then visited the former Asia Insurance Building which has been transformed into a service apartment block with modern amenities and the Kampong Glam Historic District, with much of the local characteristics preserved.
To draw on Singapore's experience in the development of sports infrastructure, Mrs Lam called on the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and received a briefing on the development of the Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang using public private partnerships, followed by a site visit to the Singapore Indoor Stadium, National Stadium and the site of the future Water Sports Centre.
