Civil Engineering and Development Department seeks community views on greening

To facilitate its formulation of the Greening Master Plan (GMP) for Sham Shui Po, the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) will organise a community forum jointly with the Sham Shui Po GMP District Participation Group to collect local views on greening.

The GMP will define the overall greening framework of the area and will serve as a guide for those involved in planning, design and implementation of greening works.

Due to inclement weather, the community forum originally scheduled for June 7, 2008, is now rescheduled for July 9, 2008 (Wednesday) in Lai Chi Kok Community Hall from 7pm to 9pm. Participants are welcome to give their views on greening issues, including greening themes, locations for planting and plant species.

People who wish to join the forum can make reservations by phone at 2905 8652 during office hours.  Reservations can also be made by mail or fax. Enrolment forms and details of the development of the GMPs are available on the department website (www.cedd.gov.hk/eng/greening/forum_ssp.htm).

CEDD has completed the GMPs for Tsim Sha Tsui and Central.  About 1,250 trees and 300,000 shrubs have been planted in those districts. The GMPs for Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Sheung Wan, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay have also been completed.  The greening works of these districts will commence in September 2008 for completion at the end of 2009.
