Slope and home safety exhibition in Tsuen Wan

The "Slope and Home Safety Exhibition”, jointly organised by the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department and Hong Kong Red Cross, will be held at “Citywalk” of Vision City in Tsuen Wan from Friday (April 4) to next Monday (April 7) from 10am to 10pm.

Through display panels, models, video shows, puppet shows, a children play area, interactive computer games and information kiosks, visitors will learn more about the maintenance of slopes and personal precautionary measures in slope and home safety.  In addition, there will be exciting games on the themes with attractive prizes.

The Head of GEO, Mr Raymond Chan, Director of the Hong Kong Red Cross Mrs Ivy Wu, and Chairman of the Tsuen Wan District Council Mr Chau How-chen, will officiate at the launch ceremony of the “Slope and Home Safety Programme” at 3pm on Saturday (April 5).  The programme spans more than a year and involves community educational activities in the Tsuen Wan area, including home visits to the elderly in Lo Wai Village.  The programme consists of providing information and enhancing vigilance of villagers with respect to slope and home safety, thereby reducing potential dangers in the living environment.

A geotechnical engineer from the GEO’s Community Advisory Unit will meet the public at the event venue from 11am to 2pm on Saturday to answer questions on slope safety and maintenance.

Enquiries on slope safety and maintenance can be made at the Citizen's Easy Link 1823.  People are also welcome to browse the Hong Kong Slope Safety website at http://hkss.cedd.gov.hk for slope safety information and the Hong Kong Red Cross website http://www.redcross.org.hk for home safety information.
