Secretary for Development visits Tsuen Wan (with photos)

The Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, visited Tsuen Wan district today (3 March) to learn about the latest developments there.

Accompanied by the Chairman of Tsuen Wan District Council, Mr Chow How-chen, and Tsuen Wan District Officer, Mrs Alison Lau, Mrs Lam first went to Nina Tower in Yeung Uk Road, where she was briefed by District Planning Officer of Tsuen Wan and West Kowloon, Ms Heidi Chan, on the future development of the sites near Tsuen Wan West Station.

She was then briefed by representatives from the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) and the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) on the proposed revitalisation plan in Chung On Street. Under the plan, URA and HKHS will join hands to carry out a number of improvement works in the area, such as greening, widening of pedestrian pavements, installing benches and decoration materials, and a number of traffic improvement measures. To reflect district characteristics that many jewellery and gold shops are located in the northern section of Chung On Street, the area would adopt a theme of “gold” for the decoration materials and improvement works.

Before ending her visit, Mrs Lam had a tea gathering with members of the Tsuen Wan District Council to exchange views on the district’s developments.
