Stage 3 public consultation on Tseung Kwan O development begins

The Territory Development Department (TDD) has commenced a series of public consultations to canvass views on further development of Tseung Kwan O (TKO) new town.

"Public views, particularly those of the local residents, are of paramount importance to our study, which was commenced in July 2002," a TDD spokesman said. "The objective of the feasibility study is to formulate a comprehensive plan for further development of TKO, with a vision of turning it into a convenient and vibrant new town, with distinctive urban design and a quality living environment.

"After taking account of the public views collected in the stage 2 public consultation last May, a Concept Plan to provide a broad land-use framework for the further development areas of TKO, in particular Town Centre South, Tiu Keng Leng and Pak Shing Kok, has now been formulated.

"The Concept Plan will be presented to the public through a series of public consultations, and public views will certainly be valuable for our formulation of a detailed layout plan," he added.

A consultation with Sai Kung District Council, the first of a series, was held on January 19. Members of the Legislative Council Panel on Planning, Lands and Works will be consulted on January 27.

A public forum will be held at 8pm on January 30 at Leung Sing Tak Primary School, Hang Hau, TKO (next to the Hang Hau MTR Station).

A series of consultations will follow with the Town Planning Board, green groups, professional institutes and TKO Area Committees.
