Public invited to building management and maintenance forum

The Housing, Planning and Lands Bureau (HPLB) will hold a public forum to solicit views on building management and maintenance on Tuesday (January 20).

The public is invited to participate in the forum, which will take place at the Theatre, City Hall, Central between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

The HPLB last month launched a consultation exercise on building management and maintenance aimed at generating wider public discussion on the issue and obtaining broad community consensus on the main principles before turning to the implementation details.

A spokesman for the bureau said, "Building management and maintenance involve complex issues and full public discussion is essential in mapping out a long-term strategy to tackle this long-standing problem. We hope to work closely with building owners, the community and the industry for a better living environment."

The consultation exercise lasts until April 15. Copies of the consultation document can be obtained from the HPLB and District Offices. The document is also available on the HPLB homepage at www.hplb.gov.hk. Members of the public are welcome to send in their views by fax at 2845 3489, by email or by post to the HPLB. The details are contained in the consultation document.

The second forum will be held on Monday, February 23 in the Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre.

Ends/Friday, January 16, 2004
