The Land and Building Advisory Committee (LBAC) was today (November 18) briefed on the future land supply situation.
"Members were briefed on the general outlook of future land supply," Professor Yeung Yue-man, Chairman of the Committee, said after a committee meeting.
"Members noted that there will be adequate land supply to meet the development needs of the community in the coming years. They believed this information has helped to clarify the market situation.
"The committee was consulted on the Kai Tak Planning Review. Members generally agreed that there is a need for public consultation in the exercise and they are looking forward to concrete proposals for more in-depth public discussion at the next stage," Professor Yeung said.
The committee was also briefed on the latest position of the West Kowloon Cultural District project. Members noted that the first stage of the assessment process under the Invitation for Proposals (IFP) exercise launched in September, 2003, was completed and that there would be public consultation on the three proposals which passed the screening exercise.
Members were also consulted on the operation of the current Application List System. They were generally of the view that this is a market-driven mechanism which is working well. But they would also welcome any initiative the administration may have to improve the system's transparency and flexibility.
