Cycle Parking Rack Design Competition starts accepting entries

The Civil Engineering and Development Department today (December 21) launched the Creative Smart Parking - Cycle Parking Rack Design Competition. Members of the public are invited to contribute innovative conceptual designs for cycle parking racks and layouts for cycle parking areas.

In order to improve the provision of cycle tracks for the enjoyment of the public, the Government is developing a comprehensive cycle track network in the New Territories. The cycle track will be approximately 105 kilometres long, and adequate supporting facilities will be provided along the network. The Competition aims at collecting innovative design ideas to provide visually attractive and user-friendly cycle parking facilities. Concepts of the winning entries will be incorporated into the design of the cycle track network in the New Territories.

The Competition is open to all. Attractive prizes include $50,000 for the grand prize, $20,000 for each of the three merit prizes and $5,000 for each of the several commendation prizes.

Registration for the Competition will close on January 21. Entries should be submitted by 5pm on March 12. Details and entry forms are available at the Competition website (www.creativesmartparking.com.hk).

Results will be announced at the Competition website next April, followed by an awards presentation ceremony and exhibitions of the shortlisted entries.
