Civil Engineering and Development Department awards contract on decommissioning and decontamination works for Kai Tak development

The Kowloon Development Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (April 30) awarded the contract  for "Kai Tak Development – decommissioning and decontamination works at the south apron of the former Kai Tak Airport" to Kin Wing Construction Company Limited.

The works project is one of the infrastructural projects carried out by the CEDD to develop the Kai Tak site.

The works under the contract mainly comprise decommissioning and ground decontamination works at the south apron of the former Kai Tak Airport.

The purpose of the works is to prepare the site for the construction of advanced infrastructure serving developments in the southern part of the former runway, such as the new cruise terminal and other planned developments. 

The works are expected to start this month and will take about 20 months to complete.

The works have been designed by Maunsell Consultants Asia Ltd., which will also supervise the construction for the CEDD.
