Departments move into phase two of five-day week
The Water Supplies Department (WSD) and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) will implement phase two of the five-day week scheme next month, but all their emergency services will not be affected.
Starting from January 1, all five Customer Enquiry Centres and the Meter Testing Laboratory in WSD will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays but their service hours on weekdays will be extended.
The five Customer Enquiry Centres, situated in Wan Chai, Mong Kok, Sha Tin, Tai Po and Tuen Mun, will open from 8.30am to 6.30pm on Mondays to Fridays while the Meter Testing Laboratory at Lung Cheung Road will operate from 9am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 6pm on weekdays.
All enquiries can be made via the department's 24-hour Customer Enquiry Hotline 2824 5000, by post, email to email@example.com, fax 2802 7333, or via the department's drop-in-box on the ground floor of WSD Headquarters at Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. The service hours of the operator service for billing and consumership matters provided by the Customer Telephone Enquiry Centre will be extended.
From January 1, the new opening hours of the EMSD's Customer Services Office will be from 9am to 5.15pm from Monday to Friday. The office will be closed on Saturdays.
Members of the public and the relevant trade sectors may submit their applications by post or the web-based registration services(www.emsd.gov.hk). Applications like registration services on electricity, gas, lifts and escalators, builder's lifts/tower working platforms, amusement rides, Voluntary Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme and Energy Efficiency Registration Scheme for Buildings can be made via electronic submission of applications through the Internet. They may also put their applications into the drop-in box on the ground floor lobby of EMSD Headquarters at 3 Kai Shing Street, Kowloon Bay, from 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
