The Drainage Services Department today (December 21) awarded a $255 million contract to Leader Civil Engineering Corporation Ltd for the construction of Kam Tin trunk sewerage phase one and Au Tau trunk sewers in Yuen Long.
The contract involves the construction of trunk sewers of about 7.5 kilometres (km) in diameter ranging from 300 millimetres (mm) to 1,200 mm, associated twin rising mains of about 5.7 km in diameter ranging from 250 mm to 900 mm, and three sewage pumping stations at Au Tau, Kam Tin and Nam Sang Wai.
Upon completion of the works, the trunk sewerage systems will be able to cope with the sewage demand of the increasing population at Au Tau, Kam Tin and Nam Sang Wai.
The works will start next Thursday (December 29) for completion in mid-2009.
