Fishing in reservoirs is prohibited from April 1 for five months

The Water Supplies Department reminds members of the public that fishing in all 17 reservoirs in the territory will be prohibited for five months from April 1 to August 31, 2004.

The arrangement is to maintain a favourable ecological balance and good water quality through natural purification in the reservoirs where fish play an effective role in controlling algal proliferation.

The reservoirs in Hong Kong are open to anglers with valid fishing licences for fishing only in non-spawning season from September 1  each year to March 31  the following year.

Ends/Sunday, March 28, 2004
