Appointment of Urban Renewal Authority Executive Directors

The Chief Executive has, on the recommendation of a Selection Board, appointed Mr Andy Lee Shiu-chuen and Mr Andrew Lam Siu-lo as the executive directors of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) for a term of three years.

Announcing the appointments today (December 24), a Government spokesman said that Mr Andy Lee Shiu-chuen's appointment will take effect from January 1, 2002 while Mr Andrew Lam Siu-lo's appointment will start from February 1, 2002.

A consultants' firm was commissioned by the Government to conduct an executive search for suitable candidates for appointment as the executive directors of the URA.

On the basis of an open recruitment exercise, a number of suitable candidates from the public and private sectors were shortlisted for interview by a Selection Board chaired by the Secretary for Planning and Lands.

"Mr Lee and Mr Lam were recommended by the Selection Board as the most suitable candidates for the two posts," said the spokesman.

Under the leadership of the Managing Director who is the administrative head of the URA, the two executive directors are responsible for administering the affairs of the URA.

The appointments will be published in the Gazette on Friday (December 28).
