Review on use of Tamar site

A spokesman for the Planning and Lands Bureau clarified today (October 19) reports on Government's review on the use of the Tamar site.

Deputy Secretary for Planning and Lands, Mr Patrick Lau Lai-chiu, said in a radio programme this morning that the Government is reviewing the use of the Tamar site for the new Government Headquarters. In response to the suggestion that the former Kai Tak airport site should be considered as an alternative site, Mr Lau said that all sites that fulfil the relevant criteria would be considered but no decision on whether the new Government Headquarters would be built elsewhere has been taken.

Mr Lau's remarks to the media after the radio programme (Chinese only) have been uploaded onto the Government Homepage <http://www.info.gov.hk>.
