SDEV delivers keynote speech at 2019 World Cities Day Forum (with photos)

The Secretary for Development, Mr Michael Wong, today (October 31) gave a keynote speech at the 2019 World Cities Day Forum in Tangshan, Hebei Province.
 
In his speech, Mr Wong introduced Hong Kong's efforts in seeking transformation and breakthroughs in the process of urban development through adopting an innovative approach. He told participants at the forum how the Government is pushing forward development along the shorelines of Victoria Harbour, and introduced them to the Tung Chung East nearshore reclamation project.
 
He met with the Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Mr Ni Hong; the Vice Governor of Hebei Province, Mr Zhang Gujiang; and the Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, Mr Victor Kisob, before attending the forum.
 
Mr Wong also attended the cultural exchange and welcome dinner on arrival in Tangshan yesterday (October 30).
 
The 2019 World Cities Day Forum is organised by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the People's Government of Hebei Province. This year's theme is "Changing the World: Innovations and Better Life for Future Generations".
 
Mr Wong will return to Hong Kong this evening.
